This iconic Andean species produces spectacular large flowers with broad, fused sepals forming a wide triangular structure and short sepaline tails that create a bold, showy display. The robust growth habit and reliable blooming make it one of the most popular and rewarding species in the genus.
Additional Notes
Native to the cloud forests at elevations of 2,500-3,500 meters, this species has been cultivated since the 1800s and remains a cornerstone of Masdevallia collections worldwide. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss.

I love the foilage on this plant. I look forward to it blooming.
Huge healthy plant that comfortably fills a 6" pot. Looking forward to bloom!
Arrived safely in Louisiana, USA in January in great condition! Way fuller and in better conditioned than I expected. After a few leaves turned from either the shock of transitioning or a little bacterial spot, it has adjusted and I can't wait to watch it grow!
First time ordering from Ecuagenera, and this particular Masdevallia was well taken care of. It's been about two months since I received the plant, and It already has about 8 spikes on it. I can't wait to see the color!
