A unique Ecuadorian species featuring flowers with distinctive star-shaped hairs and characteristic tubular form. Successive blooms emerge from compact plants, making this intermediate to cool-growing species particularly intriguing for collectors.
Additional Notes
The name "asterotricha" refers to the star-shaped hairs found on the flowers, creating a distinctive appearance. It adapts well to intermediate to cool conditions. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss.
I have grown masdevallias before, both the warm and coolgrowers. I have not grown M. asterotricha yet. Right nowwe are having very hot temps, so I will keep it inside withmy other 'cool' orchids until the milder fall temperatures.Hopefully I'll be able to keep it happy enough for it tobloom.Thank you Thank you for your service.
