Description

Description

A distinctive Ecuadorian species that produces elegant flowers with characteristic tubular form and elongated sepals. The compact growth habit and successive blooming make this intermediate to warm-growing species particularly valuable for collectors.

  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial shade. Protect from direct sunlight which can scorch leaves.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm grower. Daytime 68-82°F (20-28°C), nighttime 59-68°F (15-20°C). More heat-tolerant than most Masdevallia species.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation. Good air movement is critical to prevent fungal and bacterial issues, especially in warmer conditions.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist throughout the year. Water every 2-3 days depending on conditions, using pure water with low mineral content.

Additional Notes

This species tolerates warmer temperatures than most Masdevallia, making it accessible for growers without strict cool conditions. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss.
