Information

Description

Description

A cool-growing species from the cloud forests of South America, offered here in a well-established big size. It forms dense rosettes of upright, spatulate leaves and bears elegant flowers on slender, erect spikes held above the foliage, with spreading sepals tapering into fine, thread-like tails.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 55–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure, which can quickly stress the foliage.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistently low temperatures, good air circulation, and cooler nights to perform well.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; very high humidity is essential for healthy growth and prolific blooming.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly and consistently moist; this species lacks pseudobulbs and is highly sensitive to drying out.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated in a small pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to retain moisture while ensuring good drainage and airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root and well established; pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
