Information

Description

Description

A miniature species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing flowers flush against the broad lanceolate leaf blade. Each bloom features an erect triangular dorsal sepal, a wide synsepal with a serrated margin and apical tail, and bilobed petals with a striking contrasting central mask.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a Cool grower that thrives with cool nights and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–95%; grow in a well-ventilated cool enclosure and mist frequently to prevent desiccation.
  • Watering: Keep roots consistently moist but never waterlogged; water daily when mounted, or every 1–2 days in fine sphagnum or bark mix.

Additional Notes

Its compact size and high humidity requirements make it an excellent candidate for terrarium or Wardian case cultivation with cooling. Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Ships bare root, well-established.
