Information

Description

Description

A slender reed-stem epiphyte from the cloud forests of northern South America, bearing solitary or few-flowered racemes of striking, spider-shaped blooms on wiry stems with narrow, lanceolate leaves. The flowers display extremely elongated, acuminate sepals and petals radiating outward, with a small, three-lobed white lip bearing a vivid yellow callus at its center. Blooms release a delicate nocturnal fragrance, making this species especially rewarding in an indoor growing space.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to prevent stress on the slender stems and narrow foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from moderate temperature fluctuations between day and night.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; good air movement around the roots and stems is essential to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a well-draining bark-based mix. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to settle into their new growing environment.
