Information

Description

Description

A branching, leafy orchid from the cloud forests of South America, producing compact terminal corymbs of very small, globose, hooded flowers with fused sepals forming a closed spherical structure and a yellow callus visible at the opening. The densely leafed, freely branching habit and jewel-like floral clusters make it a distinctive cool-growing collector's species.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the narrow foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that requires cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests to thrive and bloom reliably.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity supports the freely branching growth habit and consistent flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, well-draining bark mix. The tiny globose flowers are best appreciated up close. Ships bare root, well-established.
