Description

Description

This young epiphytic aroid is beginning to develop the species’ characteristic cordate leaf shape, with gently emerging bullation and texture. The leaves are small and delicate, held on slender petioles, and show a fresh green coloration. Subtle pubescence can already be seen along the veins on the underside of the leaf, hinting at the textured foliage to come as the plant matures.

  • Light: Bright, indirect or filtered light. Avoid direct sun exposure to prevent scorching and sun-bleaching of the textured leaves.
  • Temperature: 59-77°F (15-25°C) during the day and 50-59°F (10-15°C) at night. Maintain cool to intermediate conditions; avoid temperatures above 82°F (28°C) and protect from frost or sudden cold drafts.
  • Humidity: High levels, consistently between 70-80%. Requires a stable, moist environment to mirror its high-altitude cloud forest habitat and ensure healthy foliage development.
  • Watering: Regular application to keep the substrate evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of the medium to dry slightly before watering again, ensuring excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional notes

It thrives in a highly porous, well-aerated mix—such as sphagnum moss, perlite, and orchid bark—and benefits significantly from the use of rainwater or distilled water.
