Information

Description

Description

A large, well-established division of this exceptionally floriferous epiphyte from the cloud forests of Ecuador, forming dense, multi-stemmed clumps with broad, arching lanceolate leaves. Dozens of long, arching to pendant inflorescences emerge simultaneously, each densely packed with tiny, three-pointed star-shaped flowers spirally arranged along the rachis — creating a breathtaking cascading display unique in the genus.

  • Light: Moderate indirect light with 55–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the broad foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a cool grower that thrives with consistent cool temperatures and strong airflow.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; high humidity supports vigorous growth and the prolific, simultaneous production of multiple inflorescences.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; does not tolerate prolonged drying between waterings.

Additional Notes

Blooms repeatedly throughout the year, often producing dozens of inflorescences simultaneously. Best grown in a hanging basket or pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to allow the pendant spikes to cascade freely. An extraordinary specimen for any cool-growing collection. Ships bare-root in excellent condition.
