Information

Description

Description

A large, well-established division of this vigorous epiphyte from the cloud forests of Ecuador, with broad, arching lanceolate leaves emerging from short, dark pseudobulbs. The arching inflorescences are densely packed with tiny flowers arranged in two precise opposite rows along the rachis — a distinctive distichous arrangement that gives the species its name and creates a striking geometric display.

  • Light: Moderate indirect light with 50–65% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the broad foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an intermediate grower that adapts well to a range of conditions with good airflow.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high humidity supports vigorous growth and prolific blooming.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; avoid prolonged drying between waterings.

Additional Notes

Blooms repeatedly throughout the year with multiple arching inflorescences. Best grown in a pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss, or mounted on cork bark. An architecturally striking addition to any intermediate collection. Ships bare-root in excellent condition.
