Information

Description

Description

A miniature to compact species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, known for its remarkably prolific blooming habit. It produces dense, upright racemes of tiny flowers with rounded sepals, carried well above neat, strap-like foliage.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can bleach and damage the thin leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C); a cool-to-intermediate grower that benefits from stable, cool nights. Avoid prolonged heat above 80°F (27°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential for healthy root activity and consistent flowering.
  • Watering: Keep the mix evenly moist at all times; Stelis lacks pseudobulbs and cannot tolerate drying out between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to maintain consistent moisture. Shipped bare root and well-established; plant promptly upon arrival and water generously to rehydrate the roots.
