Information

Description

Description

A reed-stem epiphyte from the cloud forests of Central America, producing tall, branched panicles densely covered with dozens of striking bicolored flowers. The sepals and petals display bold dark spotting on a pale ground, while the three-lobed lip features broad, contrasting lavender-lilac lateral lobes and a small yellow callus at the center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to prevent stress on the tall stems and foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from moderate temperature fluctuations between day and night.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; good air circulation around the stems and roots helps prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix or in baskets to allow the tall, branched panicles to develop freely. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to settle into their new growing environment.
