Information

Description

Description

A vigorous terrestrial and lithophytic reed-stem orchid widely distributed across the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, producing tall, cane-like stems with aerial roots along their length. Dense, rounded corymbs of numerous flowers crown the upright stems, each bloom displaying narrow, spreading sepals and petals alongside a prominently fringed, three-lobed lip with a vivid yellow center.

  • Light: Bright indirect to moderate direct light with 20–40% shade cloth; tolerates more sun than most Epidendrum species, which promotes prolific blooming.
  • Temperature: 60–85°F (16–29°C); a warm grower that thrives in stable warm to hot conditions year-round.
  • Humidity: 50–75%; more adaptable to lower humidity than many orchids, making it an excellent choice for beginners.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; the aerial roots along the stems benefit from regular misting.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix or directly in the ground in frost-free climates. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
