Information

Dracula chimaera

A species from the cloud forests of South America, known for producing large, pendant flowers on drooping inflorescences that emerge from the base of the plant. The triangular sepals are heavily fringed along the margins, tapering into long, slender tails, with a rounded, fungus-mimicking lip at the center.

  • Light: Low to medium indirect light with 70–80% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistent cool temperatures and good air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–90%; high humidity is essential — do not allow the growing medium to dry out completely.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; never allow the roots to dry out between waterings.

Additional Notes

This species requires a well-draining, moisture-retentive medium such as fine bark or sphagnum moss. It is shipped bare root and well established, ready to adapt to its new environment.
