Andreettaea zephyrina f. purple

A captivating miniature species from the Andean cloud forests, forming dense cushions of small, fleshy leaves from which numerous slender spikes emerge simultaneously, each bearing tiny dark purple-maroon flowers with triangular sepals and dramatically elongated, thread-like tails. The purple form is a selected color variant prized for its deep pigmentation and prolific multi-spike flowering habit.

• Light: Low to moderate indirect light with 60–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun, which quickly damages the delicate, compact foliage.
• Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); intermediate to cool grower. Consistent cool nights are essential for long-term health and blooming.
• Humidity: 80–95%; requires very high humidity at all times. Strong air movement is essential to prevent rot at the base of the dense cushion growth.
• Watering: Keep the mix evenly moist at all times; this species has no pseudobulbs and cannot tolerate drought. Water frequently with excellent drainage to avoid root suffocation.

Additional Notes

Ideal for terrarium or vivarium culture where high humidity and cool temperatures can be maintained. Best grown in fine sphagnum or mounted on cork. Shipped bare root, well established — ready to mount or pot upon arrival.
