A trailing gesneriad with lush, densely hairy stems and vivid tubular flowers perfectly adapted to attract hummingbirds in its natural habitat. Its cascading growth habit makes it an exceptional choice for hanging baskets or elevated shelves where its stems can drape freely and display blooms along their full length.
Additional Notes
Found in humid montane forests at mid to high elevations; described by R.Kr. Singh (2023). Best grown in a well-draining, epiphytic mix of bark and perlite or mounted on cork bark.
Got a huge cutting, like 18 inches long! The leaves were beautiful and huge (8-9 inches for the longest ones) and tipped brightly with red on both sides, the distinctive feature of this species. Unfortunately the leaves dropped off due to transit stress (this is typical and unavoidable), but the stem came rooting in sphagnum moss. Gave it some extra humidity and I'm looking forward for new shoots soon. Thanks!
