Anthurium sanguineum is a captivating species prized by enthusiastic collectors for its elegant, elongated foliage and the distinctive reddish-purple hues that often adorn the veins, petioles, and leaf undersides.
Light: Provide bright, indirect light to encourage strong growth and to bring out the characteristic reddish pigmentation in the veins and petioles. While it can survive in lower light, the "sanguine" coloration will be less distinct. Avoid harsh, direct sun which can easily scorch the foliage
Temperature: This species is adaptable to intermediate-cool and intermediate-warm climates. It thrives in a broader range than strictly cool growers, performing well between 14-28°C (57-82°F). It appreciates a slight temperature drop at night but handles warmer daytime highs well, provided that humidity levels are maintained.
Humidity: Very high humidity is crucial, ideally between 70-90%. As a cloud forest plant, it relies on ambient moisture to maintain the texture of its leaves. A grow tent, greenhouse, or powerful humidifier is often necessary for long-term success.
Watering: Maintain consistent moisture in the substrate. Unlike some drought-tolerant Anthuriums, A. sanguineum prefers not to dry out completely between waterings. However, excellent drainage is vital to ensure roots are oxygenated and to prevent rot.
I received the plant in good condition, but I think you sent a different species. The leaf shape, ribbing and surface of the leaf do not match the photo you offer of this species.
