Information

Description

Description

A delicate and intriguing species from the Andean cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador, it produces flowers with widely spreading, translucent sepals adorned with fine spotting and an exceptionally long, thread-like dorsal tail that rises dramatically above the bloom. Its dense, compact growth habit makes it an elegant miniature for collections.

  • Light: Low to moderate light; 70–80% shade cloth recommended. Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C). Cool grower; requires cool nights and consistent airflow to thrive.
  • Humidity: 80–90%. Maintain high ambient humidity with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; never allow roots to dry out completely. Water frequently during warm months.

Additional Notes

Grown by Ecuagenera in the highlands of Ecuador, this species thrives in fine bark or sphagnum moss with excellent drainage. Shipped bare root, well-established.
