Description

Dresslerella sijmiana Culture

  • Light: This orchid prefers very low, indirect light. It grows in the deep shade of its native cloud forest habitat.
  • Temperature: This species is adaptable to a wider range of temperatures, classifying it as an intermediate-climate orchid. It prefers daytime temperatures between 20-26°C (68-79°F) and a moderate drop at night to 15-18°C (59-65°F).
  • Humidity: Extremely high humidity, at or above 80%, is essential for this plant. It should never experience dry air. Good air circulation is also critical, however, to prevent fungal issues in such a moist environment.
  • Watering: The substrate or mounting medium must be kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. This orchid does not have large pseudobulbs to store water, so it should not be allowed to dry out completely.

Additional notes:

  • Dresslerella sijmiana is a unique and charming miniature orchid known for its distinctive appearance. Its most notable feature is the bristly or hairy texture that covers its leaves and flowers, giving it a velvety and almost fuzzy look. This characteristic sets it apart from many other orchids.
