Information

Description

Description

A striking cool-growing species native to Andean cloud forests, it produces vividly colored flowers on slender, upright spikes. Known for its rich, saturated hues and compact tufted habit, it is a prized addition to any Masdevallia collection.

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light; 70–80% shade cloth recommended. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C). Cool grower; avoid temperatures above 75°F (24°C). Night temperature drops encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 80–90%. Consistent moisture in the air is essential; ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times — this genus lacks pseudobulbs and cannot tolerate drying out. Use soft, low-mineral water when possible.

Additional Notes

Grown at Ecuagenera's facilities in Ecuador under high-altitude conditions that closely replicate this species' native cloud forest environment. Best suited for experienced cool-growers. Shipped bare root, well-established.
