Information

Tillandsia biflora

A compact epiphytic air plant with narrow, linear-lanceolate, channeled leaves arranged in an open, arching rosette with acuminate tips and entire margins. The lamina is distinctively marked with irregular, scattered maculae distributed across the leaf surface, giving this species a speckled, textural quality that sets it apart from plain-leaved Tillandsia.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with good air circulation; tolerates brief morning sun but avoid harsh midday exposure, which can desiccate the narrow leaves rapidly.
  • Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C); thrives as a cool to intermediate grower; avoid prolonged heat above 82°F (28°C) and protect from frost.
  • Humidity: 50–70%; regular misting or soaking is essential, especially in drier environments, as this species absorbs all moisture through its leaf trichomes.
  • Watering: Mist thoroughly 2–3 times per week or soak in water for 20–30 minutes weekly; always allow the plant to dry completely within 4 hours of watering to prevent rot at the base.
  • Growth Habit: Epiphytic air plant that requires no substrate, anchoring naturally to branches, cork bark, or decorative mounts. It produces offsets (pups) from the base after flowering, gradually forming a multi-rosette clump over time.

Additional Notes

Best displayed mounted on cork bark, driftwood, or wire without any substrate. Shipped bare root, well-established.
