Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum — formerly known and still widely loved as Philodendron bipinnatifidum or the "Split-Leaf Philodendron" — is one of the most iconic and architecturally spectacular aroids in the world. Native to the tropical and subtropical forests of South America, including Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia, this warm to intermediate-growing species produces enormous, deeply lobed and pinnately divided leaves on long, sturdy petioles, creating a bold, tropical silhouette that transforms any space it inhabits. Its genus name, Thaumatophyllum, means "wonder leaf" in Greek — and one look at a mature specimen explains why.
