Information

Description

Description

This is a cool-to-cold growing terrestrial or epiphytic species from the eastern slopes of the Andes (1300–2500 meters). It features stout, erect, cane-like stems and is valued for its large, thin white flowers.

  • Light: It needs bright, indirect light to partial shade. Provide good light for development, but protect the foliage from direct, intense sun.
  • Temperature: This cool-to-cold grower prefers intermediate to cool conditions, ideally between 60-80°F (16-27°C). It requires a distinct nighttime temperature drop.
  • Humidity: High humidity, between 60% and 80%, is essential. Always provide excellent air movement to prevent stagnant air and fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water liberally and frequently to keep the well-draining media consistently moist. Superior drainage is mandatory to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Features large white flowers up to 10 cm wide, marked with reddish-purple spots on the lip. Each bloom lasts briefly but appears in succession, ensuring a long-lasting floral display.
