Описание

This is a large-sized, epiphytic orchid native to Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. It is found on trees in dry or humid forests at elevations up to 2000 meters. It is characterized by its large, compressed, ovoid to ellipsoid pseudobulbs that typically carry two leathery, apical leaves.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is required. Avoid strong, direct sun which can damage the foliage.
  • Temperature: This is a cool-growing species. Temperatures should be maintained in the following range: 50-75°F (10-24°C).
  • Humidity: Moderate to high (ideally between 60% and 80%).
  • Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce the frequency of watering once the new pseudobulbs have matured.

Additional Notes

The orchid blooms once between spring and fall on a remarkably long, branched, paniculate inflorescence that can reach up to 3 meters in length, holding many flowers. The flowers are waxy, long-lasting, medium-sized (about 3 cm or 1 1/4"), and are spicily fragrant.
