Information

Maxillaria striata f. red

A striking dark form of the Ecuadorian species, featuring elongated, arching sepals and petals dominated by deep mahogany-red tones with contrasting amber-yellow striations and a richly pigmented purple-wine trilobed lip with a white center. Its dramatic coloration and floriferous habit set it apart as one of the most visually intense forms in cultivation.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can bleach the deep red pigmentation and scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); thrives as an intermediate grower with a moderate nighttime temperature drop to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity supports robust pseudobulb development and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a pot or basket. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
