Maxillaria Sangay

A primary hybrid of Max. pulla × Max. striata, combining two floriferous Maxillaria species known for their dynamic flower structure. The blooms are produced in abundance simultaneously on slender scapes, with narrow, strongly recurved tepals, dramatically elongated and downward-curving lateral sepals, and a trilobed lip with well-developed lateral lobes and bold internal veining — a striking spider-like silhouette that commands attention in full bloom.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact, clumping foliage.
• Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that performs well with stable temperatures and good air movement.
• Humidity: 65–80%; consistent humidity is important for healthy root development and prolific blooming.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a small to medium pot. A rewarding primary hybrid that blooms freely and makes a bold statement when in full flower. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
