Maxillaria Ivan Portilla

A hybrid of Max. fractiflexa × Max. molitor orange, two species from the Andean cloud forests. It produces large, showy flowers simultaneously on upright scapes, combining a tall, erect dorsal sepal with broadly spreading lateral sepals, forward-curving petals, and a fleshy trilobed lip with dark markings at the throat.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
• Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistently low temperatures and good air movement.
• Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential for healthy growth and prolific blooming.
• Watering: Keep the mix evenly moist without allowing it to dry out completely; avoid stagnant water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Ships bare root and well-established — pot promptly upon arrival in fine bark mix and water generously to rehydrate the roots. Best suited for cool greenhouse conditions or high-altitude growing setups.
