Information

Macroclinium junctum

A miniature epiphytic orchid from the cloud forests of South America with a fan-shaped growth of terete, linear leaves and a pendant inflorescence bearing several simultaneously open flowers. Each flower displays elongated, thread-like sepals and petals with a small, cup-shaped lip, giving the cluster a delicate, spider-like appearance.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can desiccate the fine terete leaves.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); a cool to intermediate grower that benefits from a slight temperature drop at night.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential for healthy root and leaf development in this miniature species.
  • Watering: Mist or water frequently to keep roots barely moist; mounted specimens dry quickly and should never remain dry for extended periods.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to accommodate its pendant inflorescences and fast-drying root system. Shipped mounted on cork, well-established.
