Information

Hoya macgregorii

An epiphytic vining species from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia with elliptic-lanceolate, semi-succulent leaves and slender, extending stems that climb or trail readily along any support. It produces persistent peduncles on mature growth from which successive flower clusters emerge.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the fleshy leaves.
  • Temperature: 60–82°F (16–28°C); thrives as a warm to intermediate grower with stable, frost-free conditions.
  • Humidity: 50–70%; moderate to high humidity supports vigorous stem extension and healthy leaf development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the substrate to dry out significantly between waterings; avoid waterlogging, which causes root rot.
  • Growth Habit: Twining epiphytic vine with elliptic-lanceolate, semi-succulent leaves on slender, extending stems. Develops persistent peduncles on mature growth — never remove them, as they rebloom season after season.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a fast-draining mix of orchid bark and perlite. Shipped bare root, well-established.
