Elleanthus aureus

Elleanthus aureus is a distinctive reed-stemmed orchid that brings graceful vertical structure and authentic Andean character to a species collection. Its architectural growth makes it especially appealing in a humid greenhouse or sheltered display where steady conditions can support vigorous development.

Care Guide

• Light: Provide medium to bright, filtered light, avoiding intense midday sun.
• Water: Keep the growing medium consistently moist during active growth. Do not allow the roots to remain waterlogged or dry completely for extended periods.
• Humidity: Maintain high humidity with gentle, continuous air circulation.
• Temperature: Grow in cool to intermediate conditions, with cooler nights and protection from prolonged heat.
• Growing medium: Use a moisture-retentive yet airy terrestrial orchid mix rich in organic material, with excellent drainage around the roots.

With filtered light, steady moisture, humid moving air, and moderate temperatures, Elleanthus aureus can become an elegant specimen with a strong, naturalistic presence.
