Dendrobium thyrsiflorum

Dendrobium thyrsiflorum is a showy orchid celebrated for its dense, cascading clusters of white flowers with glowing golden-yellow centers. When a mature plant blooms, the pendant racemes create a dramatic waterfall effect against the upright canes and fresh green foliage.

Care Guide

• Light: Provide bright, filtered light, with gentle morning sun if available. Good light helps mature the canes and encourages flowering.
• Water: Water generously while new canes and roots are developing, allowing the medium to approach dryness between waterings. Reduce watering after growth matures, while preventing the canes from shriveling.
• Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity with excellent air circulation.
• Temperature: Grow in intermediate conditions during active growth, followed by cooler nights as the canes mature.
• Growing medium: Use a coarse, fast-draining orchid mix in a pot or basket that gives the pendant flower clusters room to develop. Repot when new roots begin to emerge.

With vigorous seasonal growth, bright light, and cooler nights as the canes mature, Dendrobium thyrsiflorum can reward the grower with spectacular cascades of white-and-gold flowers.
