Bulbophyllum gracillimum

An epiphyte from the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia to the SW. Pacific, instantly recognizable by its umbellate inflorescences bearing flowers with dramatically elongated, thread-like lateral sepals that radiate outward in a striking starburst display. It grows with a creeping rhizome producing well-spaced pseudobulbs, each topped by a single leathery leaf.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can damage the thin pseudobulbs.
• Temperature: 60–82°F (16–28°C); an Intermediate to Warm grower with a minimum tolerance around 55°F (13°C).
• Humidity: 70–85%; mount or grow in a shallow basket with good air circulation to keep roots healthy.
• Watering: Water frequently during active growth, allowing a brief dry period between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to accommodate its creeping habit, or in a wide shallow basket with a coarse bark mix. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
