Information

Aspasia silvana

Aspasia silvana is a compact and captivating epiphytic orchid described by Barros & Batista in 2004, native to the warm, humid forests of Brazil. Reaching no more than about 38 cm in height, it is a petite species that punches well above its size — producing beautiful, star-shaped flowers in white, delicately spotted with purple or pink-purple markings, and carrying a sweet fragrance that makes every bloom a multi-sensory delight. A warm-growing species that thrives in high humidity, it is a wonderful choice for collectors who love fragrant, characterful orchids in a compact package.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright, indirect light. It can tolerate gentle morning or late afternoon sun, but protect it from harsh midday exposure to keep the foliage and flowers at their best.
  • Temperature: Warm to hot. Daytime temperatures of 24–29°C (75–84°F) with nights staying above 18°C (64°F) suit this lowland species well. Avoid cold drafts.
  • Humidity: High humidity of 70–75% is ideal. A humidifier, frequent misting, or a pebble tray will help recreate the warm, steamy conditions it loves.
  • Watering: Water generously during active growth, allowing the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce frequency during the winter months.
  • Fragrance: Yes — the flowers are fragrant, adding an extra dimension to this already lovely species.

Small in stature but big on charm, Aspasia silvana is a fragrant gem from Brazil's forests — grown with care at Ecuagenera and ready to bring spotted, star-shaped beauty and sweet scent to your warm orchid collection.
