Information

Anguloa acostae

Anguloa acostae

Anguloa × acostae Oakeley (1999) is a beautiful natural hybrid orchid from Ecuador, arising from the cross of Anguloa hohenlohii and Anguloa eburnea. Like all Tulip Orchids, it produces large, waxy, cup-shaped flowers that enclose a charming rocking lip — in this case graced with a sweet fragrance inherited from its distinguished parents. At 45 cm, this intermediate-growing species makes a bold and rewarding statement in any collection, with natural variability between individuals adding to its unique character.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright, indirect light — filtered sunlight is ideal; avoid direct sun to prevent leaf damage
  • Temperature: Intermediate conditions with daytime temps of 18–24°C (65–75°F) and cooler nights of 10–15°C (50–59°F)
  • Humidity: High humidity at 50–70%; humidifiers or humidity trays are recommended
  • Watering: Keep substrate consistently moist with good drainage; water frequently but ensure excess water drains freely to prevent root rot
  • Plant size: Approximately 45 cm

Cultivated in the Ecuadorian highlands by Ecuagenera, Anguloa × acostae is a fragrant, botanically significant natural hybrid that brings the charm of Ecuador's cloud forests into your growing space.
