Phalaenopsis pulcherrima (syn. Doritis pulcherrima) is a stunning warm-growing orchid species native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, from India through to China and the Philippines. Its species name says it all — pulcherrima means "most beautiful" in Latin — and this compact, free-flowering species more than lives up to that name. Unlike the large hybrid Phalaenopsis commonly found in garden centers, this species is a true botanical gem: upright flower spikes, vivid magenta-pink blooms, and a vigorous, easy-going nature that makes it a joy to grow.
