Information

Maxillaria striata white lip

A distinctive form of the Ecuadorian species, recognized for its broad, well-opened flower with widely spreading lateral petals, a concave upright dorsal sepal, and a boldly striped perianth in amber-yellow with dense dark veining. Its defining feature is the prominently displayed trilobed lip with a pure white, brilliantly contrasting midlobe that sets it apart from all other forms in cultivation.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can fade the vivid striped patterning and scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); thrives as an intermediate grower with a moderate nighttime temperature drop to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity supports robust pseudobulb development and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a pot or basket. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
