Описание

Описание

A cool-growing reed-stem orchid from tropical and Andean South America, producing dense, pendant spikes crowded with medium-sized flowers bearing elongated, reflexed lanceolate sepals and narrow petals. The compact, cylindrical inflorescence has a distinctively rich, rusty texture that gives the species its name.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that requires cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests to thrive and bloom reliably.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity supports vigorous cane development and consistent flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a hanging basket or elevated pot to allow the pendant spikes to display freely. Grow in a well-draining bark-based mix. Ships bare root, well-established.
