Описание

A sympodial orchid native to the forests of Ecuador, producing dense corymbs of small flowers with reflexed lanceolate sepals, narrow petals, and a small trilobed lip with a prominent column. The ovaries and developing capsules are densely covered in coarse papillae, giving the inflorescence a distinctively spiny, echinate texture that sets this species apart from all others in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can stress the foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–79°F (15–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that thrives with warm days and mild nights.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; consistent humidity supports healthy growth and reliable flowering.
  • Watering: Water regularly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix or mounted on cork. The spiny, textured inflorescence is a unique conversation piece for any collection. Ships bare root, well-established.
