Epidendrum oxapampense

A robust epiphyte from the cloud forests of South America, bearing large, solitary flowers on upright stems with broad, oval, leathery leaves. The blooms display wide, elongated, acuminate sepals and petals with fine dark longitudinal veining on a mottled cream-pink ground, alongside a three-lobed lip with a dark central lobe and a vivid yellow callus.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to prevent stress on the broad, leathery foliage.
• Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C); an intermediate-cool grower that benefits from cool nights and good air movement.
• Humidity: 70–85%; good air circulation around the stems and roots helps prevent fungal issues.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.
