Porroglossum schramii 'Ecua' x 'Jost'

A striking cool-growing miniature bearing flowers with broadly triangular, sharply spreading sepals tapering into long, slender tails, and a velvety, deeply concave interior surface. The motile lip — the genus's signature trap mechanism — snaps shut on contact, making this a captivating specimen for the serious collector.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun, which quickly scorches the soft foliage.
• Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a Cool grower with a minimum tolerance around 42°F (6°C). Consistent cool nights are essential for sustained blooming.
• Humidity: 80–90%; high, stable humidity is critical — a cool-mist humidifier or enclosed cool greenhouse environment is strongly recommended.
• Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist at all times; never allow to dry out completely, but ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot with a fine, well-draining mix (fine bark with perlite or sphagnum). This cross between two select clones — 'Ecua' × 'Jost' — is shipped bare root and well-established, grown at Ecuagenera's cloud forest nursery in Ecuador.
