Information

Description

Description

A miniature species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, with a distinctive tubular, channeled leaf that sheathes the plant base. A solitary flower emerges from within, with a globose ribbed synsepal, a recurved dorsal sepal, and a small lip with a white column — an unusual and intriguing bloom.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the upright, tubular foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C). Cool nights are essential for consistent blooming.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity with good air circulation to prevent moisture buildup inside the tubular leaf.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the root zone evenly moist; avoid prolonged dry periods between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot with sphagnum or fine bark. Ensure good air movement around the plant to prevent fungal issues in the leaf sheath. Shipped bare root, well-established.
