Description

This distinctive miniature orchid species is renowned for its compact growth habit and delicate flowering characteristics. Found in the cloud forests of Ecuador's at elevations of 1000-1200 meters, this cool-growing epiphyte represents the fascinating diversity of the Pleurothallis genus.

  • Light: Provide bright, filtered light without direct sun exposure. East-facing windows with sheer curtains or under grow lights work well for optimal growth.
  • Temperature: Prefers cool to intermediate temperatures between 15-22°C (59-72°F) during the day with a slight nighttime drop to mimic its natural mountain habitat.
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity levels of 70-80%. Use humidity trays, frequent misting, or place in a terrarium environment to maintain adequate moisture.
  • Watering: Keep consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water frequently with small amounts, ensuring excellent drainage. Use rainwater or distilled water for best results.

Additional Notes:

Features small, erect ramicauls with tubular sheaths and single apical leaves that are coriaceous and elliptical in shape. Produces successive single flowers on short inflorescences during fall blooming season, making it a charming addition to miniature orchid collections.
