Description

Description

A charming miniature orchid that captivates with its delicate, fan-shaped growth habit and tiny, intricate flowers produced in succession along slender, arching spikes. Despite its diminutive size, Phymatidium delicatulum rewards attentive growers with a graceful, refined presence that makes it a standout in any miniature collection.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light under 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can quickly desiccate the fine foliage.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm grower. Daytime 68–79°F (20–26°C), nighttime lows of 57–62°F (14–17°C); tolerates mild fluctuations without issue.
  • Humidity: Prefers 65–80% relative humidity; humidity trays or a humidifier are recommended, with good air movement to keep roots healthy.
  • Watering: Water frequently when mounted, allowing brief drying between waterings; in pots, keep the fine mix barely moist and reduce slightly in cooler months.

Additional Notes

Native to Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay at low to mid elevations in humid forests. Best grown mounted on cork bark or tree fern to accommodate its fine, moisture-sensitive root system, though small pots with fine bark or sphagnum moss are also suitable.
