Masdevallia guerrieroi (Big)

A robust, large-growing species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, offered here in a well-established big size. It produces spatulate, upright leaves in dense rosettes and bears striking flowers with fused, triangular sepals tapering into elongated tails, with a fleshy, sculptural texture.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure, which can scorch the foliage.
• Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from good air circulation and stable temperatures year-round.
• Humidity: 70–85%; consistently high humidity is key to healthy growth and prolific blooming.
• Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist at all times; like all Masdevallias, this species lacks pseudobulbs and cannot tolerate prolonged dryness.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated in a small to medium pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to retain moisture while allowing good drainage. Plants are shipped bare root and well established; pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
