Description

This diminutive epiphytic orchid, native to Brazil, is characterized by its grass-like appearance and prolific growth habit. It features thin, narrow leaves and small, flattened pseudobulbs that produce multiple arching inflorescences covered in tiny, fragrant white flowers with a yellow-orange center.

  • Light: Moderate to bright filtered light. Avoid direct sun, but ensure sufficient luminosity to encourage the dense, miniature blooms.
  • Temperature: 50-85°F (10-29°C). Highly adaptable to cool, intermediate, or warm conditions, though it thrives best with a noticeable drop in temperature at night.
  • Humidity: Constant levels between 60-80%. Due to its fine root system and thin leaves, it requires high humidity and consistent air movement to prevent the plant from drying out or developing rot.
  • Watering: Frequent and consistent. The substrate should remain moist but never soggy; because it lacks large water-storage organs, it does not tolerate long periods of drought and should be watered as soon as the medium feels slightly dry.

Additional notes

This species is an excellent candidate for mounting on cork or driftwood, where its creeping rhizomes can spread freely to form a lush mat. When grown this way, it may require daily misting with aged water or rainwater to maintain hydration without the risk of mineral buildup on its roots.
