Description

Description

A rare and highly coveted unpigmented form of Cattleya maxima, one of Ecuador's most iconic native orchid species. It produces multiple flowers simultaneously in a graceful, arching raceme, each with narrow, gently undulated tepals, an erect dorsal sepal, spreading lateral petals, and a tubular lip with frilled margins — all in the exceptionally rare blue-lavender coloration that makes this form one of the most sought-after Cattleya in any serious collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 30–50% shade cloth; good light levels are essential for prolific blooming and strong pseudobulb development.
  • Temperature: 61–86°F (16–30°C); a warm grower that thrives with stable daytime warmth and moderate temperature drops at night.
  • Humidity: 50–70%; moderate to high humidity with excellent airflow prevents fungal issues and supports healthy growth.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to dry out almost completely between waterings; Cattleya roots require excellent drainage and aeration.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a coarse bark mix in a well-draining pot or basket. A true collector's treasure — the coerulea form of Ecuador's own C. maxima is exceptionally rare and highly prized on the international orchid market. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
