Information

Apoballis acuminatissima

Apoballis acuminatissima is a rare and elegant tropical aroid from Southeast Asia, reclassified by Wong & Boyce in 2018 from the genus Schismatoglottis. It is prized among aroid collectors for its beautifully elongated, lance-shaped leaves with a sharply acuminate tip — as its name suggests — and a refined, understated beauty that sets it apart from showier tropicals. A warm-growing species that thrives in humid, shaded conditions, it brings a sophisticated, botanical character to any indoor jungle or greenhouse collection. Grown with care at Ecuagenera and offered in excellent condition.

Care Guide

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light. This forest floor aroid prefers shaded conditions and should be kept away from direct sun, which can bleach or scorch its delicate leaves.
  • Temperature: Warm growing. Prefers temperatures of 18–30°C (64–86°F). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
  • Humidity: High humidity of 60–80% is ideal. A terrarium, greenhouse, or humidifier setup will keep this species at its best.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist but well-drained. Never allow the roots to sit in standing water. Use soft or filtered water when possible.
  • Soil: A loose, well-aerated mix rich in organic matter — similar to a chunky aroid mix — works excellently for this species.

A true botanical rarity for the discerning collector, Apoballis acuminatissima rewards attentive care with lush, graceful foliage and the quiet satisfaction of growing a species that few others have in their collection.
