Aerides quinquevulnera Culture

This medium-sized orchid species is known for its spectacular, colorful flowers, the name "quinquevulnera" means "five wounds," referring to the five purple-magenta spots on its flowers. This species is a classic favorite among orchid enthusiasts for its stunning appearance and fragrant blooms.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, but should be protected from the harsh midday sun to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: Thrives in hot to warm temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures are between 24-30°C (75-86°F), with a night drop to 18-22°C (64-72°F).
  • Humidity: High humidity is crucial, ideally between 65-80%. Excellent air circulation is essential to prevent fungal issues and promote healthy growth.
  • Water: Aerides quinquevulnera often in spring and summer to keep the medium moist. In cooler months, water less and let the medium dry a bit between waterings.
