Information

Porroglossum tripollex

A miniature species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing small flowers on slender, upright inflorescences with three broad, spreading sepals that taper into fine, elongated tails and a sensitive, hinged lip at the center. The compact, creeping habit and successive blooming make it a rewarding species for collectors of miniature cool-growing orchids.

  • Light: Low to medium indirect light with 70–80% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a cool grower requiring stable cool temperatures and constant air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–90%; high humidity is essential throughout the year.
  • Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist at all times; never allow the roots to dry out.

Additional Notes

Best grown in fine sphagnum moss or mounted on cork bark with excellent air circulation to prevent rot at the crown. Shipped bare root and well established.
