Description

Description

An epiphytic species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing branched inflorescences with multiple well-opened flowers featuring broad, undulate, reflexed sepals and petals with a leathery texture and irregular margins, and a very wide, bilobed lip with large, rounded lateral lobes. Its bold floral architecture and floriferous, branching habit are hallmarks of the genus Cyrtochilum.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad, strap-like leaves.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); thrives as an intermediate grower with a moderate nighttime temperature drop to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity supports vigorous pseudobulb development and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a pot or basket. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
